The frightfest begins in "Mr. and Mrs. Simpson" as Homer and Marge leave for what appears to be an ordinary day. But Homer is living a double life as a secret agent, and he is assigned to eliminate Kent Brockman. When a mysterious woman blocks Homer's shot and tries to kill Brockman herself, Homer finds that his competition "hits" a little too close to home.
McFarlane Toys is releasing a boxed set based on "The Island of Dr. Hibbert" from "Treehouse of Horror XIII." It's got a release date of August 2007. There are more pictures at Spawn.com.
Simpsons Series 1 from McFarlane Toys is due in March 2007, and will include the Simple Simpson figures pictured above. Also included in Series 1 is Kamp Krusty with Bart Simpson confronting Krusty the Clown at "The Krustiest Place on Earth," In the Belly of the Boss from Treehouse of Horror XV (see below), Why You...with Homer and Bart in their classic pose, and Spay Anything, an Itchy & Scratchy boxed set. Be sure to check out all of the different pictures of that last one, because apparently the Itchy figure will be able to dismember the Scratchy figure, and playsets don't get any better than that.

I got to meet my favorite horror artist at the Dallas Comic Con on Saturday... the master, Bernie Wrightson. He signed my copy of Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #11, which contains "Squish Thing," the story he did with Swamp Thing co-creator Len Wein.
My Ironic Punishment Deluxe Boxed Set arrived at Paper Heroes today in the new comics shipment. This is especially cool considering that the local Suncoast and Toys 'R' Overpriced stores don't have them yet, and comic shops tend to be the last places to receive this kind of action figure. Ironically, however, Diamond Comic Distributors still managed to screw me by not shipping us our copies of Simpsons Comics #117.

Featuring "donut-eating action," you will be able to feed Homer donut after donut in what just may be the tastiest torture ever devised.

FOX's official Simpsons website has a Halloween theme up today... watch Kang & Kodos attack Springfield! There's also a nifty Treehouse of Horror XVI Promo. And don't miss the Zombie Shoot-Out game! (Hint: Blast the evil Krusty doll for extra shotgun shells). My son's record is 314 zombies.
Not unlike Christmas in July, tomorrow night is Halloween in November, which has become something of a tradition on "The Simpsons"...Season 17's annual trio of Halloween stories, featuring guests Dennis Rodman and Terry Bradshaw as themselves.Wasn't that last one an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"?
- The fright-fest begins in “B.I.: Bartificial Intelligence” when the Simpsons adopt David, a newly developed artificial robot son, to replace Bart after he falls into a coma.
- In “Survival of the Fattest,” Mr. Burns invites Homer and his friends to his gigantic estate for a hunting tournament, but Homer and the gang learn they are the ones being the hunted on “The World Series Of Manhunter” hosted by Bradshaw.
- In the final Halloween scare, “I’ve Grown a Costume on Your Face,” a costume contest goes awry when a real witch turns all the Springfieldians into real-life versions of their costumes, leaving Maggie dressed like a witch with the only real power to reverse the spell.
I finally tracked down a copy of Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #11 yesterday... an excellent issue sure to please fans of "The Simpsons" as well as Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan's Tomb of Dracula, Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson's Swamp Thing, and the classic EC horror comics that are spoofed here.

Individual pieces stand 2-3 inches tall and come in several plastic pieces that fit together like a kit. Set of four (4) includes Bart the Raven, Count Burns, Devil Flanders, and Kang & Alien Maggie. Fox has released details for the November sweeps episodes of The Simpsons.
Following is a rundown:

When Marge finds out that Bart's schoolmates are teasing him, she gives him the necessary tools to win back his reputation. Meanwhile, Homer teams up with Moe and joins a professional arm-wrestling circuit.
* Sunday, Nov. 20: In "See Homer Run," Homer's inability to embrace Lisa's Father's Day book the same way he does Bart's Father's Day Toolman causes Lisa to develop DDD (Disappointed Daughter Disorder). Meanwhile, Bart steals the "Bart Boulevard" street sign and causes a huge pile-up. While Mayor Quimby creates The Safety Salamander spokesperson in response to the accident, the town still forces the ineffective Mayor into a recall election. Homer, longing to win back his daughter's love, takes the spokesperson position, and after a heroic run as the Safety Salamander, he runs for Mayor -- along with every other unqualified Springfieldian.
* Sunday, Nov. 27: In "The Last of the Red Hat Mamas," featuring Lily Tomlin as a guest voice, Homer has an altercation with the Easter Bunny at the Mayor's egg hunt, causing Marge to be shunned. A lonely Marge decides to join a women's group called the Cheery Red Tomatoes and agrees to help with an upcoming charity drive -- robbing Mr. Burns of his Faberge egg collection. Meanwhile, Lisa's plans to spend a summer in Italy hit a bump when she learns the first requirement is being fluent in Italian, so she takes on a teacher from a classified ad -- who turns out to be Milhouse.
Coming up in this year's Halloween issue from Bongo: Homer stars in "Squish Thing" (left) by Swamp Thing creators Len Wein & Bernie Wrightson, and Mr. Burns returns as Dracula in "The Sub-Basement of Dracula" by Tomb of Dracula's Gene Colan and Marv Wolfman. The flipside will be "Two Tickets to HECK," a parody of the classic EC Comics horror tales.
